Man Whose Girlfriend Has an Unpleasant Vaginal Odor

An unpleasant or foul vaginal odor is most commonly caused by a bacterial infection. These infections are usually very easily cured. She needs to see a gynecologist right away.

Your girlfriend seems to be in denial regarding the odor and prefers to assume that it is caused by external factors such as intercourse. Her denial probably stems from the fact that she isn't aware that the problem is treatable. Because she doesn't know this, she prefers to pretend that nothing is wrong in order to protect her self-esteem.

This reminds me of a couple of years ago. I was lying in bed with a fever, watching Dr. Ruth's television show, 'Good Sex' A man called in and complained about his girl's bad vaginal odor. Dr. Ruth suggested that he send her flowers and on the card that accompanies the flowers he should write: on the front side, I care so much for you, and, on the flip side of the card, add, but you need to see a doctor about your vaginal odor.

In my fever and delirium, I mumbled, 'No, No. He should write on the front side of the card, 'Roses are Red, Violets are Blue, 'and then on the flip side, 'These flowers smell sweet, wish your crotch would too.'

Jokes aside, I wouldn't recommend the method above.

Instead, I would lovingly, but firmly tell her that the odor is constant and interfering with your arousal. Tell her that you love having sex with her and don't want anything to get in the way. You can also say that you found out that the odor is a symptom of an infection and that she needs to see a doctor right away so that it can be taken care of. You also might say that untreated infections can be dangerous.
