Wanting More Information About Female Ejaculations

Question

Hello Dr. Turndorf,

Thank you so much for taking the time to consider my questions! I have searched your archives, but still have a few questions about female ejaculations.

What causes a woman to expell ejaculatory fluid at one time, and not at another? Where does the fluid come from (vaginal opening?)? Is it possible to urinate while sexually aroused- could urine be mistaken for ejaculaory fluid? How are urine and ejaculatory fluid different? How can one tell if it is one or the other? Is there any way to prevent having female ejaculations? Thank you so much for your time!

Answer

It isn't clear how many women expel fluid at orgasm and why they expel fluid at some times and not at others. Some researchers report nearly 40 percent of women questioned had at least one ejaculation at orgasm, while others have found a much smaller percentage.

There is also disagreement ovedr the source of the fluid and whether it is urine or secretion from vaginal glands. Interestingly enough, erotic stories have emphasized the wonders of female ejaculation for centuries.

It is important to realize that no matter what scientists eventually decide, you need to know that your body is responding normally for you and that this response is common among women. You don't even want to think about trying to stop your body's natural response, since you can't fight city hall!

So relax, enjoy your orgasms and, if needed, bring a towel to bed.
