Question

Hi.

I have a major crush on this girl at work and I think that she likes me too because of the way she acts when we see each other, but there's one problem she's a virtual stranger. We smile and say hi when we see each other but I don't even know her name and we hardly see each other because she works in a different department.

I just wondered if you could give me any advice on how to handle this. I was going to ask her if she wanted to go for a coffee or something but I feel that i don't have the right because I don't know her.

This is a major distraction and is affecting the way that I do my job so I would greatly appreciate any expert input that you could provide.

The first thing you need to know is how to recognize what I call a woman's 'Green Lights. ' Green Lights are the signals that a woman sends out to say that your approach is welcome: a smile; eye contact; and open and approachable body language are all clues that a woman is interested.

This woman smiles at you and says 'hi.' This is her way of telling you that she is interested in knowing you more. If she weren't interested, she might say 'hi,' but she certainly wouldn't smile.

True, you are strangers, but you do have something in common. You work for the same company. The next time you pass her in the corridor, tell her that you have admired her smile for some time and that you just wanted to take a minute to introduce yourself.

To get the conversation going, ask her some questions about herself and, if you feel comfortable, tell her something that you like or admire about her. It is natural to feel drawn to someone who likes you. Telling her what you like about her is the best way to magnetize her to you.

Then you can say that you'd like to know her better and invite her for a cup of coffee. The coffee will lead to more and better.

Just take it step by step and the rest will fall into place.
