Your Sex Drive is Almost Non-Existent

October 24, 2000

Question

I have a question for you. I am 23 years old, I have been married for almost 2-1/2 years, and I have a 15 month old son.

Ever since I got pregnant with my son, and even after having him, my sex drive is almost non-existent. My husband, on the other hand, is always ready to go.

Before I was pregnant, we could have sex at least 4-5 times a week. Sometimes more!! But I don't understand why my sex drive went away while I was pregnant and then never to return.

Don't get me wrong, it has nothing to do with my husband's performance, but I feel uncomfortable. What do you think could be causing this problem in me?

Also, my husband and I think that the no sex problem is also what is having such a large impact on our marriage. We're not as close as we used to be, we fight constantly, and he's even considered divorce.

Now, I don't like these things happening, and I surely don't want to divorce. Do you think that the lack of intimacy in the bedroom is causing our problems in our relationship? And if so, how do we get back to the 4-5 times a week and a great relationship?

Thanks for your time and hope to hear from you soon!!

Answer

Lack of sexual intimacy can surely cause relationship riffs. The fact that you lost your sex drive during your pregnancy makes me wonder if you are suffering from an overgrowth of yeast in the body.

The hormone imbalance that naturally occurs during pregnancy encourages the growth of yeast in the body. And, yeast overgrowth causes diminished sex drive.

The problem is that many traditional medical doctors don't accept the existence of the yeast problem. Your best bet is to find an alternative health practitioner in your area. ACAM (American Council of Alternative Medicine) maintains a list, so you can give them a call.

Meanwhile, check out my Wellness Dictionary for ideas on natural ways to get yeast under control. Also, ready Crook's book, The Yeast Connection to find out more about how an overgrowth of yeast can cause all kinds of symptoms including fatigue, depression, low thryroid, low blood sugar, allergies, and much more.

Let me know how you make out.
