I Like This Guy but He Doesn't Like Me Back Anymore

Question

OK, I met a guy this summer and he directly added me on facebook and he added me on my msn messenger. We used to talk a lot on msn about ourselves and we got to know each other. And we became friends. He liked me. I know 

when I guy likes me. But when he found out that I lived in another country, he got mad and never talked to me the way he used to talk to me before. But we still talk and I always start the conversation like: "Hey how are u|" . 

"Hey I'm fine. You?" "I miss you" etc. Anyway how can I get him back? :( I really like him.


Answer

All you can do is be up front. Tell him that you noticed that there's been a cooling in your conversation since he realized that you live in another country. Ask him if he's pulled back because he thinks a relationship would be impossible.

Then see what he says. I think his getting mad was a sign that he was really sad and disappointed to discover how far you are. He realized the futility of a future with you. Apparently moving is not in the picture for either of you.

If you ask him, he may admit that he doesn't want to invest time in a dead-end relationship. If he says this, it doesn't mean he doesn't like you. He's just saying he can't see how you two could make a relationship work.

Perhaps then you'll just agree to be devoted pen pals. If that's what you both agree to, he may feel more comfortable in talking openly with you since he will no longer have to worry that he could be misleading you or giving you false hope.
